Mission Statement

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetimeā€ is a quote from the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, founder of Taoism.
Our Vision is that young Africans will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and technology to support themselves and their families, thus reducing or even removing the impetus to embark on dangerous journeys to Europe.

Our Mission is to use the power of Information Technology to transform the lives of young Africans, by providing them with the training and hardware they need to start their own business.

What is the problem?
There are hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers and refugees in hotels in the UK. Many of them will have made the treacherous journey from Africa and they face so many more challenges, even if they are granted asylum. There is little support to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. And yet, in a sense, these are the lucky ones.

Migrant, refugees, asylum seekers.

Training centers.
Many others will have perished on the journey or languish in the camps near the French coast, waiting to risk their lives once again. Despite all this, many young Africans will continue to take this decision. Even with the known risks, the journey to the UK seems preferable to a future in which there seems to be no hope of improvement.

What do we do?
At RAASC, we believe that Information Technology is a powerful tool to help young Africans out of poverty and thus to negate the need to travel to Europe. It has already helped countless people to earn a good living and, indeed, has created many millionaires and even billionaires.
With this is mind, we provide African youth with training that includes:
  • Computer skills such as programming, software development and graphic design
  • Business skills such as setting up an internet cafe, mobile phone repairing, building and repairing computers

On completion of the course, each student is provided with a laptop and other equipment to enable them to start their own business, but at the very least, all leave with a radically enhanced chance of securing work in this field.

Computer repair skills.

Donated Computer Hardware.
How do we do this?

Appeals for equipment
We appeal to companies and government departments to donate their used, decommissioned IT equipment such as laptops, desktop computers, tablets, mobile phones, servers and networking equipment. We recondition them and pass them on to our graduates.

Tools and support to a more fulfilling life.
Referrals
Currently, we take referrals from the Home Office regarding people who are seeking or have been granted asylum in the UK.
